12 Arizona Towns So Dangerous Even Locals Avoid Them After Dark
Forget Phoenix and Tucson. The most dangerous places in Arizona by the numbers are small towns, and four of them posted a higher violent crime rate than Phoenix in 2025. We set the big cities aside and ranked Arizona's small towns and small cities by one number, violent crimes per 100,000 residents, from the FBI's 2025 data, checked town by town against Arizona DPS records. Counting down from 12: Coolidge, Snowflake-Taylor, Prescott, Casa Grande, Tolleson, Page, Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, Winslow, Williams, Globe and South Tucson. Along the way, the warehouse town whose rate got cut in half in a year, the Grand Canyon gateway with a thousand visitors for every resident, the Route 66 corner from the Eagles song, and the square-mile city surrounded by Tucson that tops the state. And why a crime rate tells you more about jobs, highways and visitors than about the people who live there.
