Reading Unfamiliar Rhythmic Patterns

http://www.andrewwasson.com/ Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers questions from off of his Guitar Blog website... Q). Andrew, (after 14 years of playing guitar), I'm finally learning how to read music! The guitar reading book I have is really simple 1st position stuff, and I've been ok there. The problem I'm going through is with rhythms in a flute book I'm using to practice from. I've included two samples in this email. Can you make a demo of them, and give me some advice with them? They're simple melodies, but really weird rhythms for me! Freddie B. -- Manchester, UK. A). Reading rhythms that are different from the basic ones found in all of those intro. level guitar books, takes both good concentration and good rhythmic awareness. However, getting that awareness can be quite difficult since the working knowledge of rhythmic feel along with an understanding of the different groups of notes and the variety of note durations can get extremely complicated for new readers really fast! In this explanation I'm not only going to run through the strange rhythms that Freddie was having troubles with, but we'll also be discussing the important ways that we can rehearse, to help everyone build better rhythmic skills. As always, Thanks for writing in! --------------------------------------------------------------- My MAIN YOUTUBE CHANNEL:    / creativeguitarstudio   ____________________________________ TWITTER FEED:   / andrewwasson   Facebook Fan Page:   / 76585035288   ____________________________________ OFFICIAL Creative Guitar Studio Products Website: http://www.creativeguitarstudio.com/ ____________________________________ ANDREW WASSON - Personal Website: http://www.andrewwasson.com (weekly postings - w/FREE Guitar Handouts) ____________________________________ CLOTHING: Visit our Creative Guitar Studio Zazzle page: http://www.zazzle.com/creativeguitars... ____________________________________
