Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) is an open-world action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games in September 2013. The Single-Player Story Set in the fictional state of San Andreas (based on Southern California) and the city of Los Santos (based on Los Angeles), the story follows three main protagonists whom players can freely switch between: • Michael De Santa: A wealthy, retired bank robber living a miserable, unfulfilled family life in a luxurious mansion. • Franklin Clinton: A young street gangster and car repo man looking for a way out of his neighborhood and a shot at bigger things. • Trevor Philips: Michael's unpredictable, violent old partner-in-crime who lives in the desert and runs a chaotic drug and weapons operation. The trio is pulled back into a life of high-stakes crime through a series of massive heists while being manipulated and pressured by a corrupt government agency (the FIB) and dangerous criminal kingpins. The narrative explores themes of greed, modern materialism, and the hollowness of the American dream in a satirical mirror image of Southern California. Gameplay • Character Switching: Players can seamlessly switch between Michael, Franklin, and Trevor during missions and while exploring the open world. • Heists and Missions: A large portion of the game involves planning and executing complex criminal heists, alongside driving, shooting, and flying. • Open World Activities: Players can explore the city and countryside, buy properties, customize cars, play sports, or cause mayhem while managing a police "wanted" system. Grand Theft Auto Online The game also includes GTA Online, a massive multiplayer mode where up to 30 players can build criminal empires, run businesses, buy vehicles and apartments, and take on cooperative heists together.
