Squeezebox Advent Calendar with John Spiers - December 6th - Felix Callewaert lepelbasser melodeon!

Happy St. Nicholas Day ... and to celebrate I'm going to be playing some Flemish/Dutch St. Nicholas Day songs I learnt as a child on a very strange type of melodeon from Belgium. Lepelbasser means "spoon basser" and is an unusual kind of bass keyboard which uses keys more similar to those found on woodwind instruments. I'm afraid this oddity is one of my un-restored old instruments and so is not one I would use for gigs! It's also tuned using the "dutch reversal" layout which means I can't play it properly! Nevertheless it is a VERY interesting box. I hope you enjoy my videos. If you would like to support me in these times when it is impossible to gig I have a web shop with paper and digital copies of my tune books you can buy along with CDs, and there's also a donate button if you felt like contributing something towards my time making these. You can find it at https://johnspiers.co.uk/shop ... Thank you!
