Love's New Day – an original William Blake-inspired rock love song born from an enchanted evening in Seattle. A heartfelt indie singer-songwriter tribute to books, music and memory. This song was inspired by a visit many years ago to a Seattle gallery exhibiting a number of engravings and prints by William Blake. I first encountered his work as a child in my father's excellent library, as he had a copy of Pilgrim's Progress with illustrations by William Blake. Within a couple months of visiting the gallery, I went to the Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair and found an extensive compendium detailing all of the places and personages that Blake referenced in his writings and artwork. The video, made via Neural Frames in Berlin, also recounts a memorable evening with a lovely bookseller from the East Coast, which included a nighttime drive to see Snoqualmie Falls. After returning home, she sent me a vinyl of Greg Brown's Blake-inspired songs, as well as an 18th century volume of poetry for my song collection. Sadly, this lovely bookseller passed away several years ago but she is not forgotten – and I still have her name tag from the book fair. If you love songs inspired by William Blake, heartfelt original music and indie rock love songs, I hope this one stays with you. All lyrics and music are my own unless otherwise noted. Thanks so much for watching and listening – feedback and constructive criticism are always appreciated.
