Porsche Boxster 986 Cigarette Lighter Replacement

This video details the steps needed to replace the factory Porsche Boxster 986 (model year 1999) cigarette lighter with a US standard sized one. The problem you may have with the factory lighter is that it is a slightly larger diameter and shorter cycler than what is typically used with US cigarette lighter adapters. As a result, you may have an ill fitting, loose connection which can fall out or lose connection regularly. The skill level on this is probably moderate. You don't have to know a lot about cars specifically but if you are handy and don't mind some detailed work, this will save you a bit of time and a lot of money.
