Las Vegas Homeless Crisis: Inside the Tunnels Beneath the Strip & the Fentanyl Crisis | Documentary

Las Vegas Homeless Crisis: Inside the Tunnels Beneath the Strip & the Fentanyl Crisis | Documentary Las Vegas is famous for casinos, luxury hotels, bright lights, and nonstop entertainment. But beneath that image exists another side of the city that most visitors never see. In this episode of Life of the Homeless in America, we explore the Las Vegas homeless crisis in 2025 and the hidden reality of people surviving inside storm-drain tunnels, on sidewalks, and in makeshift shelters beneath one of America's most famous tourist destinations. Below the lights of the Las Vegas Strip, some people have created temporary places to sleep inside underground tunnels designed to carry stormwater through the city. Life there can mean darkness, isolation, unstable conditions, and constant uncertainty about what comes next. At the same time, the fentanyl crisis has added another challenge to homelessness in Las Vegas. Addiction, poverty, unstable housing, mental-health struggles, and the difficulty of rebuilding life after long periods on the streets can become deeply connected. But this story is not only about drugs. It is also about how people arrive underground in the first place. Some are trying to escape the desert heat. Others are searching for privacy, safety, or simply somewhere they will not immediately be forced to leave. What begins as temporary survival can slowly become a life separated from the city above. This documentary takes a closer look at homelessness in Las Vegas, the underground tunnel community, fentanyl addiction, street survival, and the gap between the city's image of wealth and the lives unfolding beneath it. Through street-level footage and human stories, we examine a side of Las Vegas rarely seen by tourists — where survival continues only a short distance from some of the most expensive hotels and casinos in America. 📍 QUESTION FOR YOU: If you had nowhere else to sleep, could you imagine spending even one night inside the tunnels beneath Las Vegas?
