La Junta Canyon: Overlanding Northern New Mexico

The High Road to La Junta Canyon, Northern New Mexico Any camping trip up north includes a taco stop at El Parasol in Pojaque. From there we take The High Road to Taos, and stop to check out the San Jose de Garcia Church in Las Trampas (bulilt between 1760 and 1776). Forest road 76 goes through the beautiful La Junta Canyon. There are several developed campgrounds along with lots of options for dispersed camping. As the road continues up out of the canyon it rises to an elevation of 10800 feet.
