When the World Goes Dark, STAY NEAR TO THE LIGHT | Living The Verse Podcast – Episode 57

What do you do when the world around you feels dark? When fear, disappointment, uncertainty, or discouragement begin to overshadow your hope, it's easy to wonder where God is. But Scripture reminds us of something powerful: The darkness does not mean the Light is gone. In Living The Verse Podcast – Episode 57, Don Millman explores the theme: “When the World Goes Dark, Stay Near to the Light.” God doesn't promise that we will never walk through dark seasons. He promises that He will be with us in them. Psalm 84:11 reminds us that the Lord is our “sun and shield.” Isaiah 60:19 points us toward the day when the Lord Himself will be our everlasting light. 1 John 1:5 declares, “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” And Malachi 4:2 gives us the beautiful promise of the “sun of righteousness” who brings healing. The message is simple: When life gets dark, don't run from God—draw closer to Him. Sometimes the prayer we need isn't complicated. “Jesus, stay near to me.” ________________________________________ 🎵 FEATURED SONG: “Stay Near to Me” Today's episode features the original Living The Verse R&B Christian song “Stay Near to Me.” The song captures the longing to remain close to God when life's road becomes difficult: “Stay near to me— Closer than this breath I keep. Your kindness is the dawn I see Breaking softly, near to me.” And later: “Your mercy is the steady flame That guides me home.” May this song remind you that God's presence is not distant when life becomes difficult. He is the Light in the darkness. ________________________________________ 📖 SCRIPTURES This episode draws from: Psalm 84:11 Isaiah 60:19 1 John 1:5 Malachi 4:2 Along with supporting passages that remind us that Christ is the Light of the world and that His followers are called to reflect His light. ________________________________________ 💡 THE LIVING THE VERSE CHALLENGE This week's challenge is simple: LOOK FOR THE LIGHT. Each morning, before you begin your day, pause and pray: “Jesus, stay near to me today. Help me see Your light.” Then look for one evidence of God's presence during your day. And don't stop there. BE THE LIGHT FOR SOMEONE ELSE. Encourage someone who is struggling. Pray with someone who is hurting. Offer forgiveness. Listen to someone who needs to be heard. Speak hope into someone's darkness. Jesus said: “You are the light of the world.” — Matthew 5:14 NIV The world may seem dark, but God's light is still shining. Stay near to the Light. ________________________________________ 🙏 REFLECTION QUESTIONS As you watch or listen, consider: 1. Where does life feel darkest for you right now? 2. Where have you seen God's light shining even during a difficult season? 3. Are you staying near to the Light, or have the circumstances around you caused you to drift away from God? ________________________________________ 🎙️ ABOUT LIVING THE VERSE Living The Verse is a place where faith and music meet to stir the soul, ignite hope, and deepen our walk with Christ.
