Mehbooba Mufti Flags Copper Artisans’ Struggles & Jama Masjid’s Civic Issues

During her visit to Old City shrines, JKPDP President Ms Mehbooba Mufti met copper artisans near Jama Masjid, whose traditional livelihoods are threatened by machine-made utensils. She urged strict enforcement of the law enacted under Mufti Sahab’s vision in 2006, protecting 26 copperware items from machine production, alongside loan waivers for struggling artisans. She also flagged the deplorable drainage, roads and street infrastructure around Jama Masjid, and the pathetic facilities at its marriage hall, urging the concerned minister to address these long-pending issues.
