The following points have been covered in the video.
A health insurance policy provides financial help for medical expenses to the extent of the sum insured in case of hospitalization.
The base cover with a limited sum insured may not be adequate for large medical expenses.

Top-up and Super Top-up health insurance plans provide additional coverage after the sum insured get exhausted in the basic policy.
A Top-up or a Super Top-up plan covers hospitalisation costs only after a threshold limit, known as deductible, is crossed

The Top-Up policy allows you to make a claim that exceeds the deductible amount & the sum insured of the base policy during a single hospitalisation.
A Super Top-Up pays claims for cumulative medical expenses within a policy year once it exceeds the deductible amount and the sum insured of the base policy.
For example, you have a base cover of Rs. 5 lakh and a Top-up plan with Rs. 25 lakh sum insured.
If the claim arises only for Rs.5 lakh then the base policy will cover the total hospital expenses and the Top-up policy will not come in effect.
If a claim arises for Rs.10 lakh, Rs.5 lakh will be covered by the base policy and the balance Rs.5 lakh will be covered by the top-up policy.
In the given example if an additional claim of Rs. 4 lakh arises in the same policy year, it will neither be covered by the basic health insurance policy, not by the Top-up policy.
In another example, if you have a policy with the base cover of Rs. 5 lakh and a Super Top-up plan with the sum insured of Rs. 25 lakh.
If the claim arises only for Rs. 5 lakh, the base policy will cover the total hospital expenses, and the super top-up policy will not come in effect.
If a claim arises for Rs. 10 lakh, Rs. 5 lakh will be covered by the base policy and the balance Rs. 5 lakh will be covered by a super top-up policy.
If an additional claim of Rs. 4 lakh arises in the same policy year, it will be covered by the super Top-up policy
If you buy a single health insurance plan with a large sum insured than the premium is usually higher than the combined premium of a policy with base cover and a Top-up or a Super Top-up policy.
