"You've Never Been Sailing Until You've Sailed a 505" - 505 Midwinters 2022

Wow, this class is amazing! Over 30 505s descended on the Clearwater Community Sailing Center for the 2022 Midwinters and North American Championship. The fleet included multiple past world champion, Olympians, and even a few international teams. We got to witness a masterclass of dinghy sailing. The Florida conditions (eventually) delivered. Very light air on Saturday preventing racing, but Sunday starting light and built into champagne sailing conditions with wind in the mid teens by the end of the day. I was sailing with a 505 class newcomer, and with this being my first 505 regatta on the helm it proved to be a learning experience for both of us. It really is amazing how much fun sailing a 505 is, even when you're getting smoking by those world champions, Olympians, and long time class veterans.
