RUBRIQUE LES STYLES MUSICAUX D'ALGÉRIE. It is simply synonymous with pride and joy announcing a happy event in every courtyard of the house. From its real name Zorna, which stipulates “joyfulness” if necessary, it remains embedded in the collective memory of Algerians, keeping alive the rare moments of festivities marking religious festivals, or even wedding celebrations. A very present rhythm still. The Zorna troupe is made up of a group of musicians in traditional clothing, playing to Zornadjia's special rhythms and instruments, "Tbel (Drums), Ghaita (Flute), Tbiblette (Little Drum)". The rhythm comes from a military rhythm in 16th century which was played in the main streets of the cities of Algiers, Blida, Miliana, Béjaia, Koléa... Over time the Zorna developed to get closer to the Chaâbi rhythm and daily festivities, to now become a necessity for the start of each wedding celebration, baptism... The one who developed the Zorna is the famous zornadji Boualem Titiche, himself a student with his father of Sheikh Medjeber of Miliana.
