I was truly obsessed with this game when I was 13, and it’s still one of my favorite fangames. Stage 1 is a cool start for the game. I love the song used in the stage, as it feels extremely fitting for the start of a journey. The needle is mostly pretty basic but it has some fun screens. Flandre is an okay first boss. I don’t think it’s a very strong introduction to the bosses, it’s definitely one of the weaker ones in the game, but it’s pretty decent. Not much to say about it. Stage 2 starts spicing up the game more with gimmicks. This stage is actually really good, it has lots of iconic screens and it has a lot of variety. As always, the atmosphere is also immaculate. Shine and Bright was quite a struggle for me even though I’m relatively experienced with fangames. The combination of the vocaloid phase being significantly harder in 1.30 and me just being really bad at phase 2 made this boss really hard for me, even being comparable to some of the boss rush bosses in difficulty. It’s an amazing fight though. The pacing is excellent and there are so many brilliant ideas throughout the fight, such as the diceroll which brought a lot of excitement to the attempts. Stage 3 was really rough for me. I had some performance issues with this game, and they really started bothering me at this point since the game gets a lot harder. Hope the end of B and RZ save 1 were really rough with the issue and took several hours because of it. I found out how to fix them once I was at RZ save 2, but at that point I just kinda wanted to be done with the stage so I didn’t enjoy the rest of the stage that much either. I don’t think it’s a bad stage, there’s definitely some screens I really enjoyed but my time with it was pretty rough. I got quite unlucky with The Guy. I first tried Benzen after learning the pattern but I choked pretty bad and died like 15+ times to benzen before passing it again. Overall it’s a fun fight though. It has some great patterns that are fun to execute. It has some annoyances though such as some visual challenge in the last attack before benzen and the way it’s really hard to pinpoint mistakes in benzen. Stage 4 is my favorite platforming section in the game. The music selection is incredible, especially with the one in the middle part of the stage. There's a huge amount of variety and there are so many iconic and masterful screens. Some of my favorites are Excursion B, Tempest and Butterfly B, but there's barely any screens I don't like here. Even stuff like the Hades screens which I expected to not like were shockingly fun. The Black screens are maybe a bit of a weak point but they're quite interesting too. Amazing stuff. Boss Rush is quite the infamous part of the game. I'm personally a lot better at bosses/avoidance than needle especially since this game has a pretty different style of needle compared to cn2.5 which is the foundation of most of my needle skill. Boss Rush was still quite the struggle for me. It took a bit for me to make progress in any of the bosses but I did eventually slowly start taking them down. Dotkid Miku is a fairly fun fight. It has a lot of charm which definitely elevates it a lot. Outrage is also a very fun attack. It does get a bit tedious though since outrage is near the end and it's pretty much all of the difficulty. I also had a bit of an unlucky experience. Colonel is overall a great fight. I can't decide if 1.30 makes me like it more or less, since green seeds is a lot harder and it feels like a pretty abrupt difficulty spike but I do like how you have to work more to get a curving attempt since it makes curving more intimidating. I love the way this fight ends. The platform phase is incredibly iconic and such a genius way to finish the fight. Emperor Miku is a bit of a mixed bag for me. I feel like the first half of the fight is really tedious. Phase 2 requires a lot of patience which is inconvenient since it's at the start. As a reward for waiting through phase 2 you get the hardest phase in the fight which often kills you very fast which can be frustrating. Phases 4, 5 and 6 are really great though, and definitely make you quite nervous. (description continued in comments)
