The sailing of the 120 metre-long right hand side (RHS) bridge had sailed from Mazagon Dock’s Nhava unit at 12.30 pm on Wednesday while it reached the project site at 4 am on April 25. The arch was brought in a 25,000-metric-tonne barge the size of a football ground. BMC has successfully installed the first giant Girder (bow arch string girder) on the Mumbai Coastal Road Project. This bridging will now link the Mumbai Coastal Road with the Bandra-Worli Sea Link route. The massive girder, termed as "India’s largest bowstring arch girder on open sea", was launched at 3:25 AM on April 26 2024. The 2,000-metric-ton Bowstring Arch Bridge, a main component of the Coastal Road Project, set sail from Mazgaon Dock’s Nhava Unit at 12:30 pm on April 24. Stretching from Worli to Nariman Point, the Girder spans 136 meters in length, with a width ranging from 18 to 21 meters. Following shortly after the installation of the first Girder, a second Girder is scheduled for installation, marking the commencement of the next phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project.
