A Friend Let Me Fly His Plane! - a Van's RV-4

Something a bit different: A friend, met via YouTube, says "Simon, I'll take you out to lunch. But you're paying, and you're driving half the way". That normally doesn't seem a great deal, - but when that means a flight in his own plane: WOW what an invite!!! Steve, (on YouTube as ‪@watchfordpilot‬ , have a look!) is a fellow train enthusiast. Introduced by our friend Terry (on YouTube as ‪@Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks‬ , have a look!) who lives in Ontario, Canada, but we are only 45 minutes apart with me in Somerset, and he in Devon. Steve happens to be keen on aviation thanks to him military background, and has his own plane, - which is a beauty! The plane (called Ivy) is a Van's RV-4. Built from a kit by it's first owner, Steve is her second owner. We take a flight from Watchford Farm in Devon, fly over Taunton, Bridgwater, Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, Avonmouth, across the Severn Estuary and both Severn bridges, up the Wye Valley towards Herefordshire and finish at Shobdon Airfield, - home of Herefordshire Aero Club. We meet Steve's friend in Fleet Air Arm Squadron, have lunch and socialise, and return home. Oh, and Steve let me take the controls for much of the way there and back.
