Introducing Baseball5 Phase 3 The Game In this last phase, the bases are laid out at the regular distance of Baseball5. The batter, after hitting the ball, can stop at the base they deem most appropriate, the same thing for runners who advance due to the effect of the hits of their teammates. The defending team must pick up the ball as quickly as possible and throw it to the defenders on the bases before the runner gets there. Here we see the same action in slow motion: the runner in third and that on first are safe, while their teammate running to second in second is eliminated. The rule is always the same: if the runner arrives first, the runner is safe on that base. If the ball arrives first, the runner is out and returns to the bench. The defending team has another way to eliminate the runners, by touch or tag. The defenders can touch/tag the runner with the ball in hand while moving from one base to another. A tag is not applicable while the runners are not on the base. The on-the-fly elimination still remains valid. Here the team in black made a quick catch.
