North Wales Coast Mainly Stone Trains - Winter 2026

The quarry at Penmaenmawr has seen a large upturn in rail-borne traffic in the last 12 months. This video follows the empty workings to the quarry, a couple of bonus shots, and then the loaded trains returning East to their respective destinations. Traffic is handled by GBRf, Colas and DCR and traction is provided by classes 60, 66 and 70. The shots included this video cover the period from 1st February to 5th March 2026. Sadly, sunny days were in short supply during this period, bur enthusiasts were still able to enjoy some wonderful sights on a stretch of railway which sees very little other freight activity.
