In this series:
Rather than chase trends and spend way too much money on Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, I revisit Lego Batman 1. My history with this game is that my parents bought it for me on the Wii after I asked for Lego Batman 2. I later got that game for the Wii as well. Several years later, a Steam sale made it so buying Lego Batman 3 on Steam would have cost me just as much as buying it and its two predecessors in a bundle, so I did the latter. I've since completed the game 100% (that's saved game 1), but won't be doing so here.
In this video:
Fifteen villains escape from Arkham Asylum, a place Alfred remarks in the manual is "more porous than a tea strainer". I feel that some of the villains in this game should be considered sane and should go to Stonegate Prison, a different prison the Data files bring up that's supposed to be where Batman's apprehended villains go if they're sane. Regardless, the Riddler's team is first, with him leading Clayface, Mr. Freeze, Two-Face, and Poison Ivy. The place they're planning to rob is Gotham's gold reserves. Does that count as a bank? Whether or not it is, they need a giant key for reasons I don't remember (but probably will once I see the villains' side of this chapter/episode), so Clayface attacks a different bank. Batman and Robin show up to stop him. As is typical for the Riddler, as he escapes, he leaves a box with Legos as part of his habit of leaving clues for Batman, backfiring on him every time.
