Exploring the Canadian Rockies | Mt. Richardson

Mt. Richardson is one of the peaks tucked deep into the Skoki region of Banff National Park, and getting there is an adventure in itself. In this cinematic hiking vlog, Christoph and I set out from the Fish Creek parking lot and make our way through Lake Louise Ski Resort, stopping briefly at the Halfway Hut before continuing toward Hidden Lake. From there, we begin the scramble up Mt. Richardson for a summit that takes us deep into some of the most remote-feeling country around Lake Louise. Along the way, I talk about the adventure, the famous cutthroat trout of Hidden Lake, and what makes exploring the Skoki area so special. Unfortunately, smoke from the surrounding region had settled into the Rockies, hiding views of iconic peaks like Mount Temple and Mount Victoria. Even with the limited visibility, Richardson gave us a great reason to explore this part of the Rockies - and it left us planning a future return on a clearer day to attempt the Richardson-Pika-Ptarmigan triple peak.
