Ask Me First

‘Ask me first, before you choose for me.’ Ask Me First is a song for Rosanna MacKail, inspired by her experiences in Woman in the Frame, part of Ian Clarence’s Trees from Ashes saga. Rosanna knows that those closest to her have tried to keep her safe. But being protected has sometimes meant being denied the information she needed to make her own choices. Here, she asks for something simple: tell her the truth, and trust her to decide. There is affection beneath the anger. She still wants the people she loves beside her, with room for honest disagreement. Her answer might be yes—but it must be hers to give. ‘My answer might be yes, But the answer should be mine.’ Rosanna MacKail is a fictional singer and musician created by Ian Clarence. Her story unfolds in Fruits from the Ash and Woman in the Frame. These songs bring her voice and experiences beyond the pages of the novels.
