How can quadruped robots support future lunar exploration? This video presents progress from an ongoing research project at the Trustworthy AI and Autonomous Systems Laboratory (TASLAB), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Led by Prof. Weisong Wen and supported by seed funding from PolyU’s Research Centre for Deep Space Explorations (RCDSE), the project investigates resilient locomotion and autonomous navigation for future lunar scientific exploration. The demonstrations include: • Fault-tolerant locomotion under simulated leg failures. • Locomotion across simulated lunar terrain. • Outdoor navigation trials with a physical quadruped robot. The video was presented as part of PolyU’s research showcase at the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2026), held in Antalya, Türkiye, on 5–9 October 2026.
