Edmonton Rovers v Shentree Athletic (1.2.26...Cup) Highlights

Extended highlights of a Barnet Sunday League Intermediate Cup Second Round match between Division Two teams Edmonton Rovers and Shentree Athletic. Match played on Sunday 1st February 2026 at Enfield Playing Fields. This is Edmonton Rovers current group of young players 5th season in adults football in the Barnet Sunday League with more-or-less the whole squad now being 20-year-olds who will be turning 21 during the course of the season. The decision to bring them in as 16-year-olds in 2021 has been a big success so far and you can follow their journey up the divisions with us here with every match being filmed for this You Tube channel. The League Intermediate Cup is probably Rovers last chance of winning a trophy this season, but they are in a terrible run of form with only one win in their last nine League & Cup matches as injuries and other commitments continue to hit hard. They are once again lucky that Whitewebbs Vets match in the East Herts Vets League has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch, meaning Ian Nelson and Ben Jackson are available to help Rovers out as central defenders alongside the recently-returned Chris Jordanou in a back three while another older player in right wing-back Jordan Jordanou plays his first game for nearly three months. Like Rovers, Shentree Athletic are in mid-table in Division Two, but they went on an 11-match unbeaten run before Christmas and also reached a County Cup Semi-Final with a penalty shoot-out win in their last match. They are a team full of experienced players, but Rovers did actually draw 4-4 with them in their only previous meeting four seasons ago when Rovers players were only 16 & 17-year-olds, so with Shentree fielding four survivors from that match, Rovers might be in with a chance of progressing, especially with the badly churned-up pitch likely to be a leveller.
