Over the following decade, he created a new programming language, rebuilt his game engine from the ground up, and saw his team evolve and reorganize. The world went through a pandemic, and the global game industry transformed along the way. In July 2026, Jonathan Blow returned to China for the second time, bringing his new game, Order of the Sinking Star. Over the course of three days in Shanghai, Gamirror Games, the Shanghai-based publisher bringing Order of the Sinking Star to China, followed his journey and revisited the moments that shaped him—from his childhood and university years to the creation of Braid and The Witness.
