Have you ever taken a sickle cell test? Do you know your sickle cell status? How much do young people really understand about sickle cell disease? In this special episode, MindBridge Uganda takes the conversation to the community through random interviews with young people to explore their knowledge, perceptions and attitudes towards sickle cell disease. We engage young people in conversations about relationships, marriage, family planning, genotype testing and the importance of knowing one's sickle cell status before making important reproductive decisions. Our message is simple: Know your sickle cell status. Get tested and understand your results. Make informed decisions about relationships and family planning. Break the stigma surrounding sickle cell disease. Support individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease. Sickle cell disease is not contagious.
