AI is replacing jobs, or is it? Klarna fired hundreds of people for AI. Then they quietly started hiring them back.
That contradiction is where this video starts. I went looking for what actually happens when a company tries to automate its own workforce, and the honest answer turned out to be a lot messier than either "AI is taking everyone's jobs" or "don't worry, it's fine."
Along the way: a copywriter who lost her job to ChatGPT and got offered a job training the AI that replaced her, why Stanford's own payroll data shows 22 to 25 year olds getting quietly locked out of entry-level roles, the actual Nvidia executive who admitted AI compute can cost more than the humans it replaces, and two of the most powerful people in AI, Dario Amodei and Jensen Huang, looking at the exact same technology and landing in completely different places.
Then, right before the end, I bring in something bigger than any of our jobs specifically: Elon Musk's prediction that AI could exceed the sum of total human intelligence in about five years, and what that actually means once you sit with it for a second.
I don't think this ends with a clean winner. Some work really is gone. Some of the panic really was overblown. Tell me where you land.
