AFRICAN PENGUIN - BOULDERS BEACH - SIMONS TOWN

The African penguin also known as the Black-footed or Jackass penguin, is found on the south-western coast of Africa. They are call like this because of their donkey-like braying call. Over 2000 stay at Boulders beach near Simons Town. Boulders Beach is a tourist attraction for the beach, swimming and the penguins. The penguins will allow people to approach them as close as a meter From just 2 breeding pairs in 1982, the penguin colony has grown to over 2000. Over 60 penguins died from bee stings during September 2021. But the rest is doing well and the way they walk always bring s smile to your face.
