As part of the Ocean Explorer series, the Selene 72 combines the proven long-range cruising capabilities of a Selene passagemaker with a more contemporary exterior profile, refined interior design, and the space required for serious extended cruising. Designed in collaboration with renowned Dutch yacht designer Guido de Groot, the Selene 72 retains the key characteristics of a true ocean-going yacht while introducing softer lines, expansive glazing, and a distinctly modern character. At 75'9" (23.09 m) in overall length and 19'5" (5.92 m) in beam, the Selene 72 provides an impressive amount of space throughout. The lower deck accommodates a luxurious full-beam owner's stateroom together with three guest cabins, while dedicated crew quarters aft provide two additional cabins and a private head. Large hull windows bring natural light into the accommodation areas, while the spacious salon, raised pilothouse, and generous exterior decks create comfortable environments for both extended passages and time spent at anchor. The Selene 72 is engineered for efficient long-distance cruising, with a full-displacement hull and twin Cummins QSL9 diesel engines producing 405 HP each. At a cruising speed of approximately 9 knots, the yacht is designed to deliver the efficiency and range required for serious passagemaking, while reaching a top speed of approximately 11.5 knots. With a fuel capacity of 3,000 US gallons (11,355 litres), she is designed for longer distances between ports and extended periods of independent cruising. Her exterior incorporates many of the features associated with Selene's ocean-going yachts, including a raised pilothouse, Portuguese bridge, wide upper deck, and protected walk-around side decks. At the same time, the Ocean Explorer design introduces large hull windows and the distinctive curved lines of the flybridge, giving the Selene 72 a more contemporary appearance without compromising the practical features required aboard a long-range cruising yacht. The flybridge provides a substantial area for navigation, relaxation, and entertaining, while the large aft swimming platform can be equipped with a hydraulic Tenderlift for easier tender handling and access to the water. Throughout the yacht, carefully designed technical spaces, high-quality joinery, and extensive onboard systems reflect Selene's focus on creating yachts capable of remaining at sea for extended periods. Like all Selene yachts, the Selene 72 Ocean Explorer can be configured according to the individual requirements of her owner, with choices in interior finishes, layouts, equipment, machinery, and technical systems. A single-engine configuration is also available for owners seeking an alternative propulsion arrangement. Put simply, the Selene 72 Ocean Explorer brings together the range, efficiency, and seaworthiness expected from a genuine Selene passagemaker with contemporary styling, generous accommodation, and the comfort required for exploring the world in complete confidence.
