Vishwanath & Sons looks like a new movie. The writing… not so much. 😭 In this review, I talk about Suriya, Mamitha Baiju's Maddy, the romance, the surrogacy storyline, the age gap — and mainly, why so much of the movie felt like something I'd watched 15 years ago. My biggest problem was Maddy. She's bubbly. She's cute. She's energetic. She's thuru thuru. But beyond that… who is she? She's studying medicine, she became a surrogate because she needed money for her education, and she's the biological mother of Suriya's child. There was so much there that could have been explored. Instead, so much of her character seems to exist simply to bring energy into Suriya's very sober world. And then we have the romance. At some point kindness + money + “you're my responsibility” = love. Apparently. 😂 There were things I enjoyed too. The styling is beautiful, Mamitha brings much-needed energy to the film, and there were a couple of moments that genuinely made me laugh. But overall, I finished Vishwanath & Sons with a LOT of questions — especially about how its women and romance were written. This isn't a technical film review. It's simply how I saw the movie — with a little sarcasm, a little overthinking, and probably too many questions. Did the romance work for you? And what did you think of Maddy's character? Tell me in the comments. #vishwanathandsons #Suriya #MamithaBaiju #TamilMovieReview #TamilCinema #MovieReview
