We captured this footage during two separate journeys to the Nepal–China border crossing—first in September 2023, and again in July 2024. At the time, the narrow valley was humming with life: miles of freight trucks snaking through the pass, vibrant mountain communities, and a crucial trade link operating at full capacity. Looking at this footage today is heartbreaking. Recent catastrophic flooding and landslides have entirely altered this landscape, leaving the border infrastructure, roads, and surrounding villages decimated. We are sharing this archival footage to honor what was once there and to keep the global focus on the recovery efforts. Countless families, drivers, and local residents have been impacted by this disaster.
