CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF JOHN MAKAU MUSEMBI (MBINGO)

BIRTH The Late John Makau Musembi (Mbingo) was born in 1925 in Muvae village, Mutituni Location, Machakos Sub-County, Machakos County. He was the lastborn child to the late Musembi Mutavi and late Ndungwa Musembi. He was a brother to the late Kioko Musembi, late Nzuki Musembi, late Musila Musembi, late Mwikali Muema, late Ndila, late Ngonyo Kaloki, late Mukulu Makau, late Wandia Makau and late Nzula. He was a stepbrother to Sila Musembi, Mutavi Musembi, late Ndinda Kinyaati, late Nduku Musau, and late Ng'ondu Nzola. EDUCATION Upon attaining school-going age, the late John Makau Musembi received colonial education which encompassed domestic work, masonry, agriculture and farming that supported the colonial economy. He received basic literacy and numeracy while under employment in the East Africa Forces after undergoing mandatory training. WORK In 1941, the Late John Makau Musembi was recruited by Kenya police where he served as an officer upto 1948. In 1949, the late John Makau Musembi was promoted to serve at East Africa forces (Army), where he served with a rank of PTE during colonial regime. In 1956, he was awarded a certificate of service by East Africa forces. In 1959 he was employed by Uplands Bacon Factory located in Limuru which dealt with pork and he served for 3 years upto 1962. In 1965 he was employed by Kenya Orchards Limited (KOL) as a security officer where he served for 15 years upto 1980. In 1983 he was employed by a pipeline company which was under a Labanese Contractor - Zakhem and served for 4 years. In 1989 he was employed by Crescent Company (Roads Construction Company) where he served as a Security Officer and left in 1991. In 1992 he started serving as a watchman in Mutituni Market where he served for few years. In late 1990's he started farming which included livestock farming, substance farming and coffee farming. He practiced farming with passion until his retirement age. MARRIAGE In 1962, the late John Makau Musembi met and married the love of his life Esther Kalondu Makau. Together they were blessed with 6 children, namely: late Ruth Nthoki, Mercy Muinde (Margaret), late Agnes Wanzilu, Damaris Ndungwa, Musembi Makau and Regina Mutua. They were also blessed with 16 grandchildren, namely: Alex Muinde, Joyce Muinde, late Lydia Ndinda (Mama Lewis), Thomas Mutuku, Janet Moraa, Kalondu, Benard Musila, Renson Mutua, Mary Mwikali, David Muinde, Makau Mutua, Esther Ndungwa, Faith Mutua, Mercy Mbula, Makau Musembi and Alfred Muinde. They were further blessed with 13 great-grand children, including Lewis Mutungi, Bianca Makau, Nthoki, Esther, Danny among others. He was a father-in-law to John Muinde, David Mutua and Pauline Nduku Musembi. SOCIAL LIFE The Late John Makau Musembi engaged in several social activities. He was among the founding members of Itambya ya Mutavi in 1992 and remained an active member until his demise. CHRISTIAN LIFE The Late John Makau Musembi was a member of A.I.C Mutituni and later moved to A.I.C Muvae, where he served as a member until his age could no longer allow. SICKNESS/DEMISE The Late John Makau Musembi enjoyed a healthy, good life throughout his life until 8th September 2026 when he complained of body pains including old-age complications. He was rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital where on arrival without any medication he was promoted to glory at around 3:00pm at the age of 101 years. He has left behind a beloved wife, 1 son, 3 daughters, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grand children. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Amen.
