Once home to nearly 60 families, Gattumeedapalle in Andhra Pradesh is now an almost deserted village. 🏚️ What happened to the people who once lived here? Why did they leave their homes behind? And why is this village sometimes referred to as a “Ghost Village”? We visited Gattumeedapalle to explore its deserted streets, abandoned houses and surroundings. We also spoke to a local resident to understand the village’s story. Due to a lack of adequate irrigation facilities and proper road connectivity, families gradually moved away and settled in nearby Kosuvaripalle. Today, the village stands as a reminder of the challenges faced by rural communities.
