SCRIP 1st graduate in 2020. Then and Now: In 2020, Ortiz became SCRIP’s first ASCEND graduate after completing the program at our Hartford office. This video captures him sharing his story during the early years of SCRIP. The photograph beside it was taken in October 2026. Years after graduating, Ortiz continues returning to the SCRIP office and remaining connected to the community that supported his journey. This is what we mean when we say graduation is not the end of the relationship. Transformation takes continued connection, accountability, and people who refuse to give up on one another.
