Friday at the West Somerset Autumn Steam Gala + 71000 Duke of Gloucester & 50050 Fearless loco swap!

After a pleasant morning spent watching movements for the Blaenavon Industrial steam of South Wales II Gala    • GWR 7754, 3879 'Haulwen', and more locos a...   we headed down the motorway to pick up leg 2 of this afternoons action, beginning at the West Somerset Railway Autumn Steam Gala! The event this year features GWR Large Prairie 4110, LNWR Webb Coal Tank 1054, LMS Ivatt tank 41313 and Andrew Barclay Works No 2315 'Lady Ingrid' in action alongside the home fleet. Arriving at Bishops Lydeard we were greeted to the sight of a former WSR resident and indeed an ex Taunton based locomotive in the form of 4110, which looked right at home on the railway. After seeing the Large Prairie depart Bishops Lydeard we headed across to Fairwater Yard, where BR Standard 8P Pacific 71000 'Duke of Gloucester' returned after it's Steam Dreams Cornish Riviera Express excursion to Penzance    • 71000 'Duke of Gloucester' loco swaps with...  , handing the haulage over to 50050 'Fearless' to return the diesel hauled leg of the tour to London Paddington while The Duke reversed back to the West Somerset Railway. After the 50 departs and the Duke reverses back onto WSR metals we return to Bishops Lydeard, where we see the Duke arrive, rubbing shoulders with visiting LMS Ivatt 41313, perhaps a sign of things to come for those attending the Bluebell Autumn Giants of Steam Gala where both of these locomotives are set to star! The Duke returned to shed, where she will remain before departing tomorrow while the gala continued with lots of movements including the LNWR Coal Tank we saw in action yesterday    • Gala Preparations | Webb Coal Tank 1054 & ...   and concluding with the Ivatt on the freight. | 25.09.2026 I hope you enjoy this video and thank you for watching!
