Our guide shared stories about Gothenburg’s history while mixing in some funny jokes that kept everyone smiling and laughing throughout the ride. 😂 A few fun facts about Gothenburg: 🇸🇪 Gothenburg was founded in 1621 by King Gustav II Adolf. 🚤 The city’s canals were heavily influenced by Dutch urban planning. Dutch experts helped design the city because of their experience building on marshy land, giving central Gothenburg its distinctive waterways. 😂 And perhaps one of our favorite discoveries from the tour: Glenn is practically a legendary name in Gothenburg! After the canal tour, we visited Stora Saluhallen, Gothenburg’s historic Food Hall. The market hall dates back to 1888–1889 and remains one of the city’s favorite places for food and local delicacies. We also stopped by Gustaf Adolfs Torg, one of Gothenburg’s historic central squares. At its center stands the statue of King Gustav II Adolf, the city’s founder, famously depicted pointing toward the location where Gothenburg was to be built.
