IDEALE

“Ideale” (Tosti) Victor Cardamone, tenor Christopher Franklin, conductor Musicians of the Pittsburgh Festival Opera Orchestra English translation (singable): “I followed you just like a peaceful rainbow Next to the pathways of heaven: I followed you just like a friendly torchlight In the veil of the nighttime. And I felt you in the brightness, The aura, In the scent of the flowers; And the formerly lonely room was fill’d up By you, and all your splendor. In you so raptur’d, Because your voice was sounding, For a long time I dream’d; And every burden, every affliction On the planet In that day were forgot. Homeward, Darling ideal, Homeward for an instant to again smile upon me, And again will shine on me, Within your semblance, Only a brand new dawning, Only a brand new dawning. Homeward, darling ideal… Homeward… Homeward…”
