That monster's high defense points prevented anyone besides the 3,200 Mammoth card from attacking. So basically, all those cards I threw away to the Mammoth were to bait the AI into dealing Life Point damage...just so I could prevent the other monsters from having a field day with my Life Points. I needed to stall until I got the cards I needed you see.
