Why does it feel safer to become whoever a room needs you to be than to just be yourself? Most people know fight, flight, and freeze. Almost nobody talks about the fourth one: fawn. It's the quiet trauma response where you stop reacting to conflict and start preventing it before it happens, by molding yourself into whatever keeps the peace. I did that for years without a name for it, and if I'm honest, I still catch myself doing it sometimes even now. This is the more personal side of the people-pleasing conversation. It's not really about being nice, it's about never feeling safe enough to let people see who you actually are. Pattern Interrupt is where I talk about red flags, self-worth, and what it actually means to redefine masculinity, told through real stories instead of theory. I'm not a therapist. I'm someone who's still learning what healthy actually feels like in real time. Have you ever caught yourself fawning instead of speaking up? Tell me in the comments, I read every one.
