#hiking #california #4k This was a fairly pretty hike that is heavily wooded and relaxing. There are flowers and others views but this hike is mostly just you and the trees. I imagine this would be well shaded for a sunny day, but the day I did this hike it was overcast. The first two miles are at a gradual incline and the rest of the hike is mostly heading down. Nothing is too challenging about this and I’d recommend it for anyone who wants a wooded, relaxing hike without too many challenges. A peaceful and relaxing hike through the Toyon Trail and Coal Mine Ridge Loop near Portola Valley, CA. This trail is heavily wooded for much of the route. There are occasional flowers and scenic openings along the way, but the forest is definitely the star of this walk. The first couple of miles follow a gradual incline before the trail turns mostly downhill for the return. Nothing is particularly challenging, making this a great option for anyone looking for a moderately easy hike without steep climbs. I visited on an overcast day, but I imagine the abundant tree cover would make this an especially comfortable hike when the sun is out.
