The new Petřín cable car reopened on 22 September 2026 following a two-year refurbishment (which began after it was damaged and flooded in 2024). • ‘Winking’ cabins: When passing each other halfway along the route, the two cabins interactively ‘wink’ at one another – one cabin changes the colour of its interior lighting. • Larger windows and increased capacity: The cabins feature generous glazed walls and a glazed ceiling for a better view of Prague. The capacity of the cable car has increased from 100 to 120 passengers (19 seats and approximately 100 standing). • Operating parameters: • The route is 509 metres long (Újezd – Nebozízek – Petřín) with an elevation gain of approximately 126 metres. • The journey takes between 3.2 and 4 minutes. • The cable car runs daily at 10-minute intervals (between 7.00 and 22.15). • Historical roots: The original funicular was built on Petřín as early as 1891 to mark the Jubilee Provincial Exhibition (at that time it was water-powered). • Record-breaking demand: In the very first weeks after it opened, it broke historical records for the number of passengers carried.
