Nobody tells you what it actually costs. They tell you to give 100%. To go all in. To leave nothing on the table. They make it sound poetic. Heroic. Like the hardest part is the decision to commit. It's not. The decision is easy. The price you pay after the decision, that's what nobody warns you about. When you give everything to something, you lose everything else. The friends who don't understand stop calling. The weekends disappear. The hobbies you used to enjoy feel like distractions. The version of you that used to relax, laugh easily, and exist for fun, he starts dying quietly, replaced by someone more focused, more disciplined, and harder to love. That's the trade. You become exceptional in one area by becoming worse in ten others. Your social life. Your spontaneity. Your peace of mind. Your ability to sleep without thinking about what you didn't finish. All of it gets sacrificed at the altar of the dream you said you wanted. And here's the part most men aren't prepared for: Even if you win, even if you build the body, the bank account, the business, the reputation, the version of you that won isn't the version you started as.
