We’re going to detail the issues she faced with owning her masters, and how in 2018, JoJo was able to reclaim her work through a battle against her former label, Blackground Records. After the release of her first two albums, it would be ten years until JoJo would be able to release a third, entitled “Mad Love” in 2016. The album took so long to release after her label lost their distribution deal with Interscope in 2012. JoJo eventually revealed that after recording multiple incarnations for this album, she was finally able to get it released only after signing to a new label. Though this would signal the end of most of her troubles with Background, JoJo would get the last laugh. So let’s dive in, and see what tactics, if any, were employed by Background Records to keep JoJo’s first two efforts off streaming services. Similar to Taylor Swift’s issues with her re-recordings, we’re going to be exploring corporate greediness, and how labels do their best to snatch a rising star and profit off all their work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Background Music: “I Know Better” by CAROLINE    • CAROLINE - I Know Better (Official Audio)  ... Soundcloud:   / caroline-popmu...   DistroKid: https://distrokid.com/dashboard/album...
