Yap Catholic HS Summer Education with Yap State Historic Preservation

Yap Catholic High School spent July learning about historic preservation with Yap State Historic Preservation Office! Through this public education, YCHS students visited several sites to learn about being Yapese to create their own video of what it means to be Yapese. Students visited sites around Yap Proper, including Yap State Living History Museum, Mangyol Stone Money Bank, Japanese school site, traditional trails associated with Mangyol, Dirrak faluw and fish aech in Wanyan village, and conducted a snorkel survey of a fish aech off the coast of Fanif municipality. At each of these sites, the students learned about conducting anthropological research using ethnographic and archaeological methods. This video is their story of being Yapese!
