#DrawWithMe - Whimsical Flowers - Creating variations

I love flowers that are whimsical and/or stylised. In this video, I start with one flower design, embellish it and then create variations of it. Distress Inks were used to colour a 4.5" or 11cm square of paper . I used an 04 Sakura Pigma Sensei and a 0.1 Uniball Unipin to draw the flowers. Inktense pencils and a water brush were used to add colour. Finally, some embellishments were done with black and clear Sakura Glaze pens and a gold Uniball Signo. After all, who am I to deny my inner desire for sparkle and shine? Sketchbooks are great for just trying things out, and for not having to finish things. They are places where you give yourself permission to just create. You can try different media or colour palettes out. You can explore patterns and motifs and experiment with changing them. You can finish things in a polished way, or leave them part done as you've got what you need from the process. I often work on pieces of paper, which I then glue into my current sketchbook; that way they don't get lost! It's fun to draw around them too. In this way, sketchbooks repositories for ideas and explorations and a huge source of inspiration too. That's the approach I'm taking with #Inktober and the #InktoberTangles2022 challenge this year, and will apply it to my use of sketchbooks going forward.
