This is my Saberwing, "K'fir" going through its first end-to-end fluid fuel line checks and engine starts. This particular Saberwing is the first being built without builder assist. It is also the first tri-gear to reach this stage. Wings are complete short the flap installation.
As you see in the video, the first start day was unsuccessful. This is not to be seen as a failure. With something as complex as a plane to have it all not come together the first time is not a big deal. It turned out the mixture control was not adjusted correctly. The throttle had also been modified for this application and when it was reinstalled that modification had not been taken into account. Once these two things were corrected, she fired up in 2-3 seconds.
The Saberwing is a fantastic plane from the perspective of a builder. Build time is very fast and for the most part intuitive. The Corvair engine is a superb choice for a 100-120 HP aircraft. I have 300 hours in Corvair flight already in a KR-2S and have zero problem sitting behind this engine from Azalea Aviation.
As you can see from the video, there are still a few things K'fir needs to have completed before she is ready to go. The list of things to do is getting smaller quickly, and I expect to be in full test mode in March of this year.
Thank you for watching!
