Jenny Scarpiello - Blacktop code (Official Lyric Video)

Blacktop code - Letra BLACKTOP CODE Engines ready Lights off Same road Same code Nobody gets left behind Two thirteen by the warehouse gate Four black cars and no license plates City asleep but the engines awake One clean run No room for mistakes No names spoken over the line No headlights until the river sign When the door comes down And the street turns red Follow my taillights Keep moving ahead Sirens behind us Bridge up ahead Split at the tunnel Just like we said Three different roads One place to go Whatever happens Remember the code Same road Same code When the sirens call Nobody goes alone No names No trace We came here together We escape the same way If one car falls behind I’ll turn around and cross that line We either all get home Or nobody goes That’s the blacktop code Blacktop code No one left behind The getaway Into the night No plates No names Same road Same code Blue lights flood the rearview glass Radio cuts through the engine blast A broken voice comes over the line I’m boxed in Don’t lose your time The final exit opens on my right One clear road out of the city tonight I could disappear before they know But that’s not how this story goes Handbrake down Turn across Cut through the rain And draw them off Take the tunnel I’ll take the heat Meet at the bridge On Mercer Street Cut left Kill the lights Hold the wheel Watch the signs Two cars close One way through I clear the road They follow you No room No fear No turning back Engines screaming Tires attack They thought we’d run They thought we’d fold They never learned The blacktop code Blacktop code No one left behind Full speed Through the night Break the line Clear the way No names No trace Same road Same code When the sirens call Nobody goes alone No names No trace We came here together We escape the same way If one car falls behind I’ll turn around and cross that line We either all get home Or nobody goes That’s the blacktop code A clear road means nothing If I’m the only one who makes it home What good is winning If I have to finish it alone It isn’t blood It isn’t fame It’s knowing who will turn around When blue lights fill the pouring rain You learn who stands beside you When every exit closes Some promises are spoken Ours is written on the road All cars accounted for North tunnel clear City limits Two miles Stay together Hold the line Three Two One Drive Same road Same code When the sirens call Nobody goes alone No names No trace We came here together We escape the same way Every car is still in line Every engine survives the night We either all get home Or nobody goes That’s the blacktop code Blacktop code No one left behind The getaway We own the night No plates No names Full speed No brakes Same road Same code We all make it home Sunrise over the county line Four cars Still together Nobody got left behind
