You wake up, and your bed is smaller. Every hour from now on, you'll be TWICE as tall. Your body keeps up. The world doesn't. In three hours, you'll look into your own bedroom window from the street. In seven, you're as tall as the tallest tower in town, and a helicopter is shining a spotlight in your eye. In twelve, airplanes fly past your ear. And by hour sixteen, you have to make a choice no sixteen-year-old should ever have to make. Every height, weight and delay in this video is calculated, not made up. ⏱ CHAPTERS 0:00 Your bed is smaller 0:36 What if you doubled in size every hour? 0:49 Hour 1: 11 feet, every door is a limbo bar 1:22 Hour 2: taller than a giraffe 1:59 Hour 3: looking into your own window 2:50 Hour 4: 90 feet and starving 3:18 Hour 6: the window cracks 3:39 Hour 7: helicopters and tanks 4:38 Hour 9: into the ocean 4:54 Hour 12: a plane flies past your ear 5:25 Hour 16: your head is in space 5:47 The tide is coming in the wrong way 6:26 You have one hour 7:06 Hour 20–24: walking away from Earth 7:37 On the hour 8:13 Hour 27: the doorframe 9:06 Would you have gone? 🔬 THE REAL SCIENCE IN THIS VIDEO • Square-cube law: double your height and your weight goes up 8×, but your bones only get 4× stronger. A real giant would snap its own legs. (In this story, your body keeps up.) • Bigger voice boxes make lower sounds. Your voice drops an octave every hour, until it's a rumble like an elephant's call, and Maya has to speed it up 8× to understand you. • The biggest animals ever are whales, because water holds up their weight. Land can't. • Space officially starts about 100 km (62 miles) up. At hour sixteen you're 111 km tall. • Everything with mass pulls on everything else. Make your mass big enough and you start pulling the ocean, the same way the Moon makes tides. • Radio waves travel at the speed of light, about 300,000 km every second. Once you're hundreds of thousands of kilometres away, every call arrives seconds late: 2, then 4, then 8, then 16 (16 seconds = almost 5 million km). • Big ears hear low sounds, so Maya slows her voice down "like a whale song" so you can still hear her. • The one thing we cheat: the new atoms. Nothing in physics can make them. Physics is still mad about it. Could this really happen? No. But every force in this story is real. 💬 Would you have gone? Or stayed one more hour?
