In this video, I'll show you how to replace the rear brake pads and rotors on a 2012 Ford Focus SEL. This process is the same for many model years—check the description below to see if it applies to your vehicle!
I'll walk you through safely lifting the car, removing the old brakes, and installing new pads and rotors. You'll also learn how to properly reset the rear caliper piston—which requires a special tool instead of just pushing it back like front brakes.
This is a DIY-friendly repair that doesn’t require specialty tools beyond a caliper rewind tool, which you can borrow from an auto parts store or buy online (link below).
🔧 Tools Used:
19mm socket
7mm Allen key socket
13mm socket & breaker bar
Brake rewind tool (Required for rear brakes) - https://amzn.to/43v8BCn
Wire brush
Brake grease
⚠️ IMPORTANT: After installing new brakes, pump the brake pedal before driving to ensure the pads seat properly!
