The Step 310E. Taymyr's best sleeper: Logs Edition

The Step 310E is based on a real-life 1 of 1 prototype that was produced in the Soviet Era of Russia, called the "ZiL-E133Vyat". In Snowrunner, you find the truck in a muddy ditch, broken down, needing repair. Once you get it back to the garage, you'll notice the unique 'Voin' engine, along with 4 others. This, however, is the one strength of the truck, almost unparalleled efficiency. The "LAZ-6T173 'Voin'" has 150k torque, with a 5.0 consumption. This puts it in the middle, in terms of power, between the Freightliner 114SD and the White Western Star 4964. Efficiency, on the other hand, is what it edges out the other trucks in. Not only that, but it's pretty much glued to the ground. The JAT OMD III's push the front wheels so far laterally, that they line up with the outside of the rear wheels. Also helping that is the center of gravity is way low, being so low to the ground actually improves stability, with a short cab and everything. The main downsides are actually demonstrated in this video, but aren't said out loud. Small tire height and weight don't necessarily help the Step 310E in the slightest, as it cannot go through the deepest of terrain. In a sense, it wasn't exactly designed to do that, either. The fuel tanks are actually flush with the bottom of the cab, which helps with ground clearance. Another downside is obviously the power to weight with the Voin engine. While it is really efficient for the power it provides, you will have to fight the truck to get up the steepest of inclines with weight. In the video, I get a full lockup near the end, which is usually fixed by forcing power to the rear wheels. However, there wasn't enough grip to justify that, so I had to resort to the winch. The main 'problem' with the Step 310E isn't the suspension height, or the power to weight, or even how you get it, but WHERE you get it. It's in the final map of Taymyr, Zimnegorsk. Which if you don't know, you have almost all of the Russian trucks in the game by that point, so it becomes sort of obsolete. Now, the Tayga 6436 is found in the first map, Drowned Lands. The reason why I bring this up, is because I'm a firm believer that the devs should switch the locations around, to make the beginning of Russia a little more challenging than it is. To give this truck a purpose, instead of being a second hand choice. This is part of the circle of trucks that I personally think are really good, while many others simply toss aside for the bigger and badder trucks like the Kenworth 963, the Avenhorn, and the aforementioned Tayga 6436, the power-houses of the game. Here's a list of the trucks that I think deserve more love than they get: -Step 310E -Paystar 5070 -Freightliner 114SD -Fleetstar F2070A -Pacific p12 and 16 -Royal BM17 -GMC MH9500 They all share one common trait, being under-valued and quickly replaced. I want to act as the whistle-blower, and shout to the world that these machines can still perform as good as, or better than some of the more common vehicles you'd see in-game.
