Narco-State: How Cocaine Broke the Netherlands

The Mocro Mafia turned the Netherlands — a country famous for tolerance — into what its own politicians call a narco-state. This is the full story, built from court records and Dutch sources. It began in 2012 with one container in the port of Antwerp and roughly 200 kilos of cocaine that vanished overnight. What followed was a decade of war: the Amsterdam liquidations, the rise of Ridouan Taghi and his "well-oiled killing machine," the crown witness Nabil B., and the three men who were murdered simply for standing near him — his brother, his lawyer Derk Wiersum, and journalist Peter R. de Vries. It ended — on paper — with the Marengo trial and life sentences in 2024. The cocaine never stopped.
